The deal will see the Baytree brand appearing around the Pirelli Stadium including on ground boards, in matchday programmes and the sponsorship of one of Burton’s league games during the 2022/23 season.

With Baytree’s recently refurbished showroom in Derby already serving clients in Staffordshire, it made perfect sense to formalise a deal for an increased presence at the Pirelli Stadium.

We congratulate and thank our entire team for their hard work and commitment.

Our new showroom is now open!

We are delighted to announce the opening of our newly expanded and refurbished Derby showroom following a £250,000 investment.

How the used prestige and performance car market is changing

The prestige and performance car market is an exciting and fast-paced place to be and has seen phenomenal growth over the last 2 to 3 years.

Whilst new car sales are down in terms of volume, many car manufacturers, such as Bentley and VW have just reported their best year in terms of profit margins. With the price of a new car now averaging around £25K, this is driving an uptake in the used car market, including the prestige and performance car sector.

The average change cycle of these cars is every 18 months and there is a lot of choice on the market for those looking to buy a used performance car. What is important, however is to know what you are buying and to have an exit plan in place for when you want to move a vehicle on.

Firstly, the importance of buying the right specification for the model you are considering buying cannot be understated. This will have a significant impact on its potential re-sale value. For example, the Sports Chrono is a must-have package on any Porsche. Secondly, look for a model that not only has a high specification, but also low mileage. This will help it to hold value further down the line. Thirdly, look at previous ownership and car service history. And never, ever buy on colour alone!

My top picks for those models that are guaranteed to hold their value right now are the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Ferrari 488, which is powered by the most powerful V8 engine in the company’s history, meaning it has strong residual value. The Porsche has held a steady re-sale value of around £100K for the past 5 years now, so it is a secure way of ensuring a return, should you want to move the vehicle on.

People have several reasons for deciding to buy or sell prestige and performance cars. For some it may be a second vehicle and for others purchases can be seasonal. How they buy is also changing. Online car dealing has risen by 32% since the pandemic and at Baytree we have had to adapt to these trends by introducing an online showroom to our website, which allows visitors to view the full specification of any of our vehicles, finance options available, and reserve the car online all from the comfort of their own home.

The market is expected to evolve further over the next 3-5 years as we will see more electric, hybrid, and hydrogen cars coming into the higher end of the used car market. Range Rover are currently developing an electric model whose battery will last for over one hundred miles before requiring a re-charge. This is anticipated to be a real game changer. I predict the pace of development for electric cars will slow off over the next 2 years at which point we will see an influx of hydrogen models hitting the market.

Whatever happens, we will continue to evolve our offering here at Baytree and ensure we are best placed to support the purchasing needs of our customers, as well as offering a transparent exit strategy.

How To Make Owning Your Dream Car A Reality!

Why owning a luxury car may not be as out of reach as you think.

Chris McDermott is the founding director of Baytree Cars in Derby, an independent, family-run luxury car dealer. Below he reveals how the personal and transparent service they provide can help you find

a prestige, performance vehicle for an affordable price.

What should I consider before buying a luxury car?

I would always recommend doing your research first. Consider the specification of the vehicle very carefully before a purchase, as this could have a big impact on its future value. For example, has it got the right overall specification?

This could be the engine size, mileage, wheel style and diameter, interior package, or even the right colour combination. This all has an effect when disposing of the car, as it will appeal to a much larger audience when selling, and in turn command a higher resale price.

You should also inquire into the car’s service history, current condition and ask to take the car for a test drive. We run comprehensive pre-delivery inspections on all of our cars to ensure your vehicle is in top condition and safe to drive.

Is now a good time to buy a luxury car? Luxury cars are an investment, which is why it’s worth consulting a specialist to help you understand the market and make a sound financial decision.

Auto Trader’s January 2022 Retail Price Index showed the number of used car enquiries sent to traders via their platform has risen by 31 per cent, compared to January 2021. Used performance cars are in high demand, making now a good time to buy.

We can advise what model will be a good investment and assist with selling your car, helping you to fetch the best price and simplifying the process.

Is it worth considering buying an electric luxury car?

With the UK government aiming to reach zero-emission targets by 2030, it may be worth considering an electric, hydrogen or hybrid supercar. Over the next five years, I think we’re only going to see electric vehicle options grow. For this reason, it’s best to seek expert advice before buying.

What supercars are popular for 2022? You can explore the makes and models available for sale on our website or in our showroom. Some popular used luxury vehicles for 2022 are:

Ferrari 430 Scuderia Coupe – this is a semi-automatic 2008 model, with a 4.3-litre engine, that can reach top speeds of 199 mph.

McLaren V8 Spider – a 2019 economy model, with a 3.8-litre engine, that can reach top speeds of 204 mph.

Porsche 991 Turbo S Coupe – a 16 reg plate, this economy model comes with a 3.8-litre engine and can reach top speeds of 205 mph.

How can I afford a luxury car?

We accept part exchange and offer competitive deals and finance options to help make owning your supercar more affordable. There is also a range of cars available in our showroom beginning from £50,000, so you can find one that fits your budget.
